Elementary Student Program

elementaryClub Esteem’s after-school program “A Cut Above” is not an extension of the school day. It’s a place that combines fun and learning. Quality comprehensive programs and activities emphasize fun, activity-based learning that reinforces knowledge and skills needed for academic and personal success. Club Esteem after-school activities are also designed to promote positive relationships among children and adults, enhance social skills and pro-social behaviors, and provide opportunities for children to make positive decisions and learn leadership skills.

“A Cut Above” programs nurture the body, mind and spirit of every child who participates. The program serves elementary aged children through comprehensive programs offered 5 days per week (Mon. – Thurs. 2:30 – 6:30, Fri. 2:30 – 5:30) during the school year.

Middle School Student Programmiddle schoolClub Esteem's SOAR program allows middle school students in seventh and eighth grade an opportunity to develop values, team building strategies, improved academic performance, and relationships through activities that focus on these four modules: Social Development, Outreach (community), Academic Enrichment Activities, and Recreation. SOAR is offered at Club Esteem after school Monday through Friday.

High School Student Programharris eweek

Club Esteem's teen program for High School students provides positive social, recreational, and educational activities which foster personal character and academic excellence. Teens participate in enrichment activities including tutoring, study skills training, mentoring, social skill developments, leadership training, career exploration, health and wellness, community service, and college preparation (college visits, SAT/ACT classes). Club Esteem's programs focusing on Personal Excellence provide an alternative to dropping out of school, teen pregnancy, substance abuse, teen delinquency, gang related activities and other challenges facing all teens -- not only at-risk teens -- in today's society. Club Esteem's teen program has two primary components, Future Professionals and Teens as Tutors, both of which are guided by the active participation of our youth. Monthly incentive trips and activities are offered to teens who maintain regular attendance.

Future Professionals

Club Esteem's Future Professionals creates an atmosphere for teens to have a positive attitude about learning and understanding the opportunities education can provide. For teens who demonstrate a desire to enter higher education but may not have the resources to do so, Club Esteem's Future Professionals program helps remove barriers to higher education. Club Esteem prepares teens for a successful future by engaging them in educational, recreational, and preparatory activities ranging from college trips, SAT/ACT preparations, one-on-one tutoring, career development and exposure, individual counseling, group projects and workshops. Students also have the opportunity to develop trusting and meaningful relationships with personal youth advocates who provide one-on-one tutoring and mentoring.

Teens as Tutors

Club Esteem's Teens as Tutors program, sponsored by United Way of Brevard, gives teens who have demonstrated a commitment to personal and academic excellence an opportunity to provide one-on-one tutoring for Club Esteem's elementary and middle school children. Teens in the program are paid a stipend for their tutoring which provides them with job experience and allows them to earn money that many of our teens need to help support themselves and their family. The primary goals of the program are to develop leadership, employment skills, and a commitment to others. Requirements for participation include maintaining a specific GPA, regular participation in other Club Esteem activities, and commitment to the child assigned to tutor.
